My eternel sister Annabelle has been sending us updates and prayer requests on her friend Heather who has been battleing with health issues. She needs new lungs. We've been praying for her to receive new lungs and for her body not to reject it.
Because our Lord is the wonderful physician that He is, He made all of this happen. Today, Annabelle sent us an update on Heather's first week of recovery after her surgery.
Pray with us! Read the blog entry by Heather's mom below:
We do grab hold of the BLESSINGS around us...
*Heather was glad to be able to walk on the treadmill for 30 min Wed.
and she walked to her first doctor's appt w/out a wheelchair this week!
*She's gained several pounds back, now up to a whopping 91.5lbs!
*She's eating well and enjoying food again. I love hearing those.. "mmm" while eating fresh avocados, mangoes or ice cream cookies. :)
*The Ellisville church continues to bless us with meals and caring touches.
*We've enjoyed working on the church houses as a thank you for their hosting us. Larry's been able to stay with us much of the time, so you know he's looking for projects to help out.
*Found a good chiropractor and massage therapist just across the street from the house. We will visit her for the first time today, hopefully that will give Heather some pain relief.
*Heather went shopping for bit yesterday trying to find something that fit her little -0 size frame.
*Heather's friends are graciously and responsibly handling her entire online green baby business, and doing a fabulous job of it. A huge help and commitment. (www.teenygreenykc.com)
*Prayers of faithful friends and family
Prayer needs:
*That the healing process will start to actually make her "feel" better.
*The 3 antibiotics will clear up her leftover infections in the next week.
*The pneumothorax will heal on it's own, and soon.
*She has her first set of PFTs (pulmonary function tests) on Tuesday to measure her lung capacity, if her trech hole is healed by then.
*She has a bronchoscopy next week on Wednesday to check for rejection and infection levels in her lungs, as long as the pneumothorax heals by then.
*That her lungs will be able to take big breaths, that her chest will strengthen, giving her the feeling of better, deeper, normal breathing.
*That her cough will be more productive, since the trach hole still interferes with that.
*Healing for the vocal cords.
*Continued strengthening in her body's muscles and balance.
*Her fear to be replaced by faith and trust in her body's healing ability and God's plan for her.
***Noah's illness will not spread to Heather, Larry or I. Continuation of this could be a nightmare to deal with along with everything else.
*Might also add prayer that God would cover our finances during this time. Larry loves being able to be here but that is difficult also. Pray for properties to sell this spring.
*Larry's dad, Herb, is ill and in SM hospital. All the other brothers live out of town so this adds to their responsibilities and family concerns since we are not there to care for him. Herb is also trying to transition from his home to independent care facility. It's hard for us not to be part of this big adjustment for him.
